The Zeus slot machine by WMS and SG Gaming is an older game, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s ready to be forgotten. With a simple, pleasant design and fast, easy mechanics, it’s a great slot for a new player or an old veteran looking for a relaxing session. The Zeus 3 slot machine is the third installment of the popular Zeus casino game trilogy. Zeus III offers a non-traditional format like many of the WMS slot games we have come to know and love, with the side pyramid style reels laid out across 6 reels and offering an enticing 192 paylines.
Zeus: Thunder Reels is the latest slot to join Playson’s game portfolio, and this title looks like an improvement on one of their older games.
In 2016, Playson released a slot titled Thunder Reels, which was classic in theme.
With Zeus, it appears like the approach is totally different, and I came to learn that this newer slot uses an Ancient Greek themed design. Here is my full review of Zeus: Thunder Reels:
Zeus: Thunder Reels uses the usual 5 reels with up to 20 pay lines/betting ways. The slot offers several features that include Free spins (bonus game), Wild Reels, Stacked Symbols, Collect Symbols, and Sticky Wilds.
The slot is Medium-High in volatility, and the minimum amount that you can use per wager is $0.10 per spin. If you are a high roller, you will enjoy a higher betting range since the maximum that the developer allows for this game is $100 per spin.
The highest possible win is 813x the stake, and this is not a very commendable considering that this title also offers a below-average RTP of 95.42%.
One of the most notable icons on this slot is the blue lightning icons that are strategically positioned above the reels. These icons are dormant, but you can activate them by landing special Lightning bonus symbols.
On the 3rd and middle reel, you will notice up to 3 lightning symbols. On the 2nd and 4th reels, you will get 2 icons, while the 1st and the 5th reels have only one icon to trigger.
This is how you will get to know the number of lightning symbols required per every reel before you can be able to trigger the Wild Reel feature.
The wild reels can remain in the same position for as long as you collect the required number of icons to trigger it. This is to say that you will get 3 spins for the middle reel, 2 spins for the 2nd and the 4th reel, while the 1st and the 5th reel get 1 spin.
However, during the bonus round, things are totally different, and you will only get 1 lightning icon on each reel.
With this arrangement, it is only possible to trigger the Wild Reel feature each time you get a Lightning bonus symbol. However, this feature will be around for only 1 spin.
To trigger the bonus, you need to land 3 temple scatters on the 1st, 3rd and/or 5th reel. In return, Zeus: Thunder Reels will reward you with up to 15 free spins.
Playson did not work hard to create something unique as Zeus: Thunder Reels doesn’t offer anything new. Much of the activity on this slot revolves around the Reels feature.
The slot uses a rather common concept, and you may get bored along the way.
With a medium to high volatility, combined with a somewhat weak maximum win, and below-average RTP, Zeus: Thunder Reels doesn’t look like a game with decent potential.
I can only recommend this title to casual players.
